Meet Our Veterinary Team

We're glad you're here!

Westwood Pet Care was started in 2002 on the rural outskirts of town, but is now surrounded by the growing, lovely city of Dothan!

Our focus is on helping people through their pets. We have a fantastic staff and team and understand the emotional attachments each of our clients have to their pets. We strive to treat every pet as our own. We also have a very family oriented practice for our staff and clients.

Westwood Pet Care adopted the Cutest Peanut in Town in September 2022, and it welcomes all clients and pets to this day!

Angela

Angela

Veterinary Assistant

Hey there, I'm Angela! I'm a Vet Assistant at our clinic and have worked in Veterinary Medicine for about 7 years as an assistant and supervisor. While I enjoy interacting with the diverse breeds and species I really enjoy being a part of a team that's helping others to keep pets happy and healthy. I've always loved Science and animals and veterinary medicine combines those interests. I love knowing that at the end of my day I was able to help a pet and their owners in some way. I love being in nature, jamming to music and playing Kendama. I lived in New York for 29 years, growing up on Long Island and then traveling across the state. My favorite animal is Giraffes! I subconsciously believe that it's because I'm short and I've always wanted to be taller.

Christie

Office manager/Receptionist

Christie here! I am our Office Manager and receptionist. I started as a stay at home mom to two girls and once my kids got older I decided I wanted to do more. I have always loved animals and decided to try a part time job at a vet office. I now have 5 years under my belt working in all positions at the office and I feel deeply that working all the positions has made me better in my role. I love being a part of a team that truly works together and also learning all the personalities of all the breeds of animals we see in the clinic. My favorite part though is interacting with the clients and their pets. When we have frequent flyers or clients and pets that come in often they start to feel like family and relationships are forged and bonds made. We love the pets as much as the owners. I love what I do because we are constantly learning. Some cases aren't easy and we have to work hard to determine the diagnoses. Watching Dr, Joki work and seeing that we can make the pets better brings me joy. What drives me daily is making sure that our patents have the best quality of care and making the clients and patents lives better. On my off time I enjoy music and traveling for concerts, camping, watching premier league soccer and cooking for my family. My favorite animal is dachshund!

Cheyenne

Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT)

Originally from Virginia, Cheyenne Sherwood is our newest team member and Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT). She earned her credentials from Blue Ridge Technical School in December 2022. With a dedication to the well-being of animals and a passion that shines through her work, Cheyenne has now brought her expertise to Dothan, AL, as a valuable member of the Westwood Pet Care team.

Cheyenne firmly believes in the power of education, advocating for animals by equipping pet owners with the knowledge they need to ensure their pets live long, happy lives. Every day, she commits to delivering exceptional care to the animals she encounters, with a drive that stems from her profound love and respect for them.
Away from the clinic, Cheyenne cherishes moments spent outdoors, delving into a good book, or being surrounded by her family. Her love for animals is not limited to her professional life: she has a soft spot for giraffes, and her home is brightened by the presence of Pepper, her beagle mix, and Nico, her adorable guinea pig.

Emily

Emily

Kennel Technician

Hi! I'm Emily and I'm the Kennel Tech at Westwood Pet Care. I have a pet cat named Kiba who loves play time, treats and to adventure in our backyard. My Favorite animal is a Panda Bear. They're so clumsy and look so cute when they're munching on a tasty bamboo snack! One thing I love about working in pet care is seeing the difference we can make when a pet is back to feeling like their normal selves. Another part of my job is to give pets baths when they are brought in. I love to treat it like their spa day where the pets can be bathed and pampered then brushed out so that they can return to their owners clean and happy.
