Our Team

  • Dr.
    Gerald Fontaine
    Veterinarian

A 1977 graduate of the Auburn College of Veterinary Medical Medicine, Dr. Fontaine is a past president of the Southeast Alabama Veterinary Medical Association and is a member of the Greater Dothan Veterinary Medical Association.  In addition, he maintains memberships in the AVMA and ALVMA.  Practicing in the Wiregrass since 1977, he opened Westwood Pet Care in 2002.

He and his wife, Adrienne, have one son, Dan, and a daughter-in-law, Laura, and two grandsons, Evan and Julian.  Dr. Fontaine enjoys a number of hobbies including music, cooking, gardening, and of course, spending time with his grandsons!

  • Dr.
    Ashley Harrison
    Veterinarian

Dr. Ashley Harrison is a Birmingham native.  She worked for five years as a veterinarian technician before attending veterinary school at Auburn University.  After graduation she practiced veterinary medicine in Birmingham and has also worked extensively with the Spay and Neuter Alliance.

Dr. Harrison is married and has one son.  She has numerous pets of her own and she is especially fond of horses.  Dr. Harrison says she has been a horse person since her youth.

A welcome addition, Dr. Harrison sees patients and does surgery full time at Westwood Pet Care.

  • Dr.
    Patrick Vickers
    Veterinarian

Dr. Vickers is a 2003 graduate of the School of Veterinary Medicine at Oklahoma State University and has practiced extensively in and around the Tulsa area.  He and his wife Ruth became fond of our state's beauty and culture as they passed through when they vacationed on the Gulf Coast with their two sons.  As the youngest son is about to complete his high school education, Dr. Vickers and Ruth decided to relocate to our area.  We are fortunate that Dr. Vickers has decided to continue his practice at Westwood Pet Care.

Experienced, professional, competent, Dr. Vickers is just what every veterinary clinic needs, but his compassion and easygoing, agreeable good nature make him a perfect fit for Westwood with our emphasis on client service.

  • Kim Trawick
    Veterinary Assistant

Kim has been with Westwood Pet Care for seven years and these days is usually found answering client questions and requests at the front desk, but she has done, and continues to do, everything at Westwood.  A true animal lover with an animal care certification, she was a natural fit for us.  Kim's mother was a great client almost as soon as the doors opened at Westwood.  Kim put in an application, was hired immediately, and found a home.

A local girl, Kim grew up in Rehobeth and graduated from Rehobeth High School.  She has been married 14 years to husband Jonathan and they have a dog and three cats.  Kim loves Auburn football and spending time at the beach.

Dedicated, dependable, capable - all describe Kim.  Whether she is helping a client decide what service or product will be best for a pet, or assisting in surgery, or any one of a thousand other things we ask of her, we always know it will be done well.

  • Christie Weathers
    Veterinary Assistant

Christie grew up in Dothan and graduated from Northview High School.  She is married and has two daughters who we hear are quite accomplished soccer players.

Christie says she is one of those people who likes to stay busy and with her daughters getting older she decided to try working at Westwood.  It was soon evident that she wasn't kidding.  She does like to stay busy.  Hard-working and a quick learner, she has become a vital member of the Westwood team.

Christie has two dogs, Ollie and Sophie.  She and husband John and the family love camping.  She is a music lover and an Auburn fan!  Between working at Westwood, taking care of her family, and being a soccer mom, Christie is busy indeed.  We are fortunate to have Christie on our staff!

  • Maclaine Brinckerhoff
    Veterinary Assistant

    I have always loved animals.

  • Haley Ivey
    Veterinary Assistant

Haley says she is shy.  She is indeed quiet but she is a great person to have on our team.  Extremely punctual and dependable, a hard worker, and very easy going, Haley is a vital part of the Westwood staff.

And she is FUNNY!  A real staff favorite, she seems to have the knack of making just the right comment to make you laugh!  Every group should have a Haley.

A Slocome High graduate, Haley came to Westwood with experience at a local pet grooming shop.  She enjoys bathing and 'foofooing' our patients when she gets the chance.  Her animal handling skills are invaluable as well.

After a short period working in the security field Haley says she missed working with animals.  When she learned of an opening at Westwood she applied and was hired.  A lucky day for the Westwood staff and our patients!
